Why you need a strong & stable seawall

Your seawall is the first line of defense against storm surges and erosion to your home or commercial property. Seawalls are generally made of masonry, concrete, or sheet piles placed parallel to the shore, acting as a barrier to protect your property against erosion. This ensures your property is protected against costly structural damage.

Do I need seawall repair?

Your seawall is constantly under strain from harsh weather, hydrostatic pressure, and other forces. Although seawalls offer lasting protection against storm damage and erosion, they are not infallible. Over time, your seawall will show signs of damage. It's important to complete timely repairs to seawall damage to keep your property protected.

Signs of a failing seawall:

  • Cracks in seawall cap and wall
  • Seawall bowing or leaning
  • Pooling water behind seawall
  • Anchor rod deterioration
  • Misaligned seawall planes
  • Drop in soil level behind or under seawall
  • Voids forming behind or under seawall
  • Rust stains on a seawall

Why should I fix my seawall?

A damaged seawall is not just an eyesore. It is also a safety hazard, putting your home or commercial property at significant risk of structural damage. Even worse, issues with your seawall get more severe over time as it is exposed to heavy rains, tropical storms, and other poor conditions. That's why it is crucial to complete seawall repairs in a timely fashion. The last thing you need is to have your deck, swimming pool, and landscaping hanging in the balance after a sudden seawall collapse.

Seawall repair using PolyLevel®

The soil around your seawall starts to wash away as the years go by, forming voids and gaps around or under the wall. As a result, your seawall may begin to sink, tilt, or move outward without adequate soil to stabilize it.

FoamWorks Concrete Leveling helps eliminate voids in soil and stops seawall movement by injecting polyurethane foam into the soil on the dirt side of the wall. This innovative solution is called PolyLevel®. The foam then expands to fill in any gaps and stabilize surrounding soils. This solution seals off areas of concern and prevents more soil from escaping into the water.

While this process happens, our team uses a deep injection pin between five and ten feet long to start pumping the foam into the soil, raising the pin gradually to ensure proper coverage. Once the voids are filled, we remove excess material and fill low areas with topsoil.

Advantages of PolyLevel:

  • Non-invasive process
  • Fraction of the cost of traditional seawall repair options
  • Efficiently fills voids to stabilize surrounding soils
  • Waterproof and won't wash out
  • Quick cure time
  • Provides a barrier against future soil erosion
  • Environmentally friendly
